JavaScript on the Interwebs
Somebody requested a talk about this last year. If there is interest, I might be able to throw something together at the last minute. This would be an intro level talk as I am definitely not an expert on this.

Making the jump from enterprise development to the startup scene in Chicago
After attending the Ruby meetup with Lightbank I realized there is quite a bit going on in the startup scene in Chicago. I'd like to hear from a person (or more of course) who has made the jump from enterprise development (read: working for the man) to the startup scene in Chicago.
Things of particular interest would be:
-- Relevant technological skills they developed for the switch
-- Biggest surprises they encountered
-- Something they miss about their "previous life"
-- Anything else they are willing to share.4 votes -

Hack: design a cash-for-causes game/contest that builds social capital for all nonprofits & players.
KarmaKorn is looking for hackers and designers who want to help build a #GoodSpotting game to help take the existing cash-for-causes contest model to the next level.
Contests like Pepsi Refresh and Chase the Good have donated a lot of money to the winning nonprofits, but they suffer from 3 fundamental design flaws:
1) Their system of voting for nonprofits is meaningless. An empty vote does nothing to advance the mission of the cause except for trying to help them win. What a wasted opportunity. Instead, we can have some kind of meaningful action count as a “vote” in the… more
